Days Highlights:

  • Northern Lights
  • Super Jeep
  • Small Group Setting

Everyone is flocking to Iceland during the winter in search for the infamous Aurora Borealis. This fascinating natural phenomenon otherwise known as the Northern Lights, is one of the most mesmerizing sights you will ever come across in your lifetime. The dancing colors and shapes in the dark arctic sky will simply leave you awestruck.

Firstly, your expert Northern Lights guide will pick you up at your hotel in an custom-built 4×4 super jeep. On the search for the Northern Lights you will travel through some of Iceland’s most spectacular natural sights by night time with a very informative guide. The best part: The super jeep gives us flexibility to go off of the beaten path, where big tour buses can not reach giving us a better chance to enjoy the Northern Lights without the discomfort of big crowds.

Venture into the night with us for front row seats on a chase to see the spectacular, unique and ever changing show that are the Northern Lights.

Please note: As the success of the Northern Lights Explorer tour is heavily dependent on weather conditions, we reserve the right to cancel departures up until 18:15 on the day of the tour. If the tour goes ahead and no northern lights are seen we offer clients the chance to join another evening’s departure free of charge upon availability. Note that you need to contact us to re-book.

Add lava caving and a lobster dinner and upgrade your tour for €109

After the horse riding portion of the day, we will have a nice lunch to refuel for our next ATV adventure.

We will find our 650 cc CanAm Outlander max Quad bikes waiting outside our base in the outskirts of Mosfellsbær town. We will start the ride on a gravel road along scenic lake Hafravatn before heading up a mountain trail to the top of Hafrafell. Upon arrival at the top of the mountain awaits an amazing panoramic view of the entire Reykjavik area and its surrounding mountain range. Where you rest your head after an active day is hugely important to us. We go to great lengths to find properties that are unique expressions of the region you are travelling through. Think of them as the charming and intimate garnish atop your trip.

Whether nestled in the heart of a village or lost in the countryside and surrounded by nature, all accommodations are chosen using a strict criteria of comforthospitality, and authentic charm. We like to use locally run independent small hotels, guest houses and B&Bs instead of the larger “chain” hotels.  All of them are hand-picked, visited, and re-visited by our local partners.
