This is one of our all- time classic day tours from Reykjavík. It offers sea kayaking on the beautiful Hvalfjörður fjord. Sea Kayaking tours are very weather dependent, therefore by using more than one fantastic locations we can minimize cancellations due to wind. Our kayaks are very stable and easy to use. The small groups make it possible to never have more than 6 kayakers for every guide. There is no need for prior kayaking experience due to the certified kayak guides’ excellent instruction.
The Hvalfjörður fjord (literal translation: Whalefjord) is a deep fjord, created by the ice age glaciers, with steep 1000 meter tabletop mountains reaching for the sky. Imagine kayaking in the North Atlantic ocean where the allied troops hid their submarines and battleships during WWII. Depending on weather condition, we might have to select another more suitable location. Although the alternative locations would be different, it’s still an exceptional choice for kayaking.
This caving and snorkeling tour gives you an opportunity to experience Iceland from a new angle.
We pick you up from Reykjavík and start with the black part of the tour by exploring a lava tube cave close to Reykjavík. This adventure gives you a great insight of the volcanic activities that have formed Iceland. Depending on the season we go either to Leiðarendi Cave or Gjábakkahellir, both caves are typical lava tubes that display the characterizing features that are common for this type of caves.
After we finish the caving, we drive to Þingvellir National Park where Silfra fissure is found. Here we get ready to explore the blue by putting on a dry suit and other snorkeling gear needed. Your guide leads you through the marvels of this crystal clear water wonderland that is considered to be one of the best freshwater snorkeling places in the world.
You will have a chance to grab some lunch between the two activities.
This classic hike starts from the outskirts of Hveragerði, the town of hot springs and flowers, into the beautiful geothermal valley of Reykjadalur. In the “Steamvalley” naturally hot water flows down of the slopes of Hellisheiði mountain range, creating the ideal place to bathe in a naturally hot river. The valley also has an amazing abundance of geothermal hot springs. You will witness everything from small gurgling melting pots to vibrant super heated pools of water. After exploring these wonders of nature, we hike back down into the town of Hveragerði. This is a great 7 km half-day trek that is suitable for anyone. It is a unique chance to visit the hot springs for a nice bathing session- just as the locals do.
This trip begins through Iceland’s beautiful meadows and lava fields. Experience the unique gait tölt of the horses during your journey through the stunning and peaceful countryside. This trip includes taking you past several farms intending to give you an idea of how the agriculture and horse breeding have developed in the last few decades. At the end of your horse riding adventure, you are invited to our old farmhouse for coffee and some authentic Icelandic home baked goods!
The hot springs portion of this trip is in the morning and the horseback riding follows in the afternoon.
The adventure starts with a transfer to our rafting base camp and then off to a great rafting tour down the Gullfoss Canyon. The river has a perfectly balanced mix of beautiful, steep canyons and adrenaline pumping waves and rapids. On our way, we pass through the magnificent Brúarhlöð (Bruarhlod) canyon where participants have the option of jumping from a cliff into the river. Afterwards, we offer a nice hot shower and sauna before continuing on the road.
Our first stop on the famous Golden Circle is the geothermal area, Geysir, home of the original erupting “geyser” and his little brother Strokkur. Catch the sight of superheated water bursting from the ground up to 25 meters high. Next, we stroll down to Gullfoss, the undisputed queen of Icelandic waterfalls. Gullfoss, “the Golden Waterfall”, is an amazing sight. The water flows 32 meters down three steps of lava rocks with breathtaking power and grandeur. Our last stop of the day is the Þingvellir National Park. Here lies the biggest natural lake in Iceland. Þingvellir is a UNESCO world heritage site and the birthplace of Alþingi, the oldest existing parliament in the world founded by the Vikings more than a thousand years ago. Þingvellir is also a place of many geological wonders as it lies in the tectonic rift valley between America and Europe. It is completely surrounded by beautiful volcanoes created from the ongoing tectonic drift.
This trip is packed to the fullest; stunning natural beauty, deep-rooted Viking history, amazing geological wonders, and a great rafting adventure!
