Day 1 – Avignon
Avignon : covered market very morning, except Mondays Arrival on your own in the medieval town of Avignon. Dinner on you down and night in Avignon

Day 2 – Avignon > Isle sur la Sorgue > Pernes les Fonatine > Venasque
Cycling : about 43 km – +430m / -200m

>Isle sur la Sorgue: market on Thurdsay & Sunday morning >Velleron: market on Wednesday morning
>Peres les Fontaines: market on Saturday morning

From Avignon, you take a little known cycle path, following a river and out of the city. A short climb takes you up to the village of Jonquerettes before heading back down to the valley and reaching the pretty town of l’Isle sur la Sorgue. We recommend a lunch in l’Isle, either a picnic on the grass by the quays or perhaps a quaint restaurant in town. From here you head into the heart of the countryside, and make your way up to Venasque, listed as “one of the most beautiful villages in France”.
Dinner on your own and night at your hotel in Venasque.

D3 – Venasque > Méthamis >Bedoin
Cycling : about 30 km + possible detour up through the Gorges de la Nesque (up to 35km extra)
+ 450m / – 390m –

Today you follow the contours of Mont Ventoux – Provence’s highest peak – cycling at the limit between the cultivated fields and the majestic forested slopes. Villages are nestled at the foot of the slopes, though none were ever built in the mountain itself. When you reach the town of Villes-sur-Auzon, 17km from the start, you can take the scenic detour to climb the Nesque Gorge: a narrow and winding road that hovers above the canyon, with stunning views and lots of picnic opportunities.
Option: The more sporty riders can take a detour to see the plunging cliffs of the Nesque Gorge: a narrow and winding road that hovers above the canyon, with stunning views and lots of picnic opportunities. Continuing along the foot of Mont Ventoux you enter the town of Bédoin, famed Tour de France village and with a quaint market.
Dinner on your own and night at your hotel in Bédoin.

Day 4 – Bedoin > Crillon > Mormoiron > Bédoin
Cycling : about 45 km – + 380m / – 620 m

>Bédoin: market on Monday morning
>Mormoiron: market on Tuesday morning

There are two villages to visit along the way. The first is Bedoin, its colourful homes huddles beneath its oversized church. Take the time to wander through its streets, and climb (by foot) up to the shelf above the church, where the castle once stood. Next is Crillon le Brave, perched well above the valley, its handful of homes converted into what is now one of the most prestigious hotels in France. You can have lunch there, on the terrace overlooking Ventoux, or perhaps a picnic lunch behind the church, with equally outstanding views.
Dinner on your own and night at your hotel in Bédoin.

Day 5 – Bédouin > Beaumes de Venise > Vaqueras > Chateauneuf du Pape
Cycling : 45 km – + 380m / – 620 m
>Vacqueyras: market on Thursday morning

Today is a longer bike ride but worth the efforts. Travelling through the most prestigious winemaking villages in the southern Rhône Valley – most notably Vacqueyras (reds) and Beaumes de Venise (sweet muscat whites) – you’ll have the chance to bathe (not literally we’d hope!) in a sea of vines, with lots of wine-tasting opportunities along the way. You hit the plains before climbing slightly to Chateauneuf du Pape, the ruins of its castle standing proudly atop parcels of old gnarled vines, and covered by their blanket of smooth red stones.
Dinner on your own and night at your hotel in Chateauneuf du Pape.

Day 6 – Chateauneuf du Pape > Avignon.
Local market in Vaison la Romaine: On Tuesday & Thursday ( not to be missed) After breakfast, transfer to Avignon ( time to be set up).
End of your trip in Avignon. Au Revoir Provence ..

We can tailor make this holiday by adding additional cycling days or adding nights along the way.

Your Accommodation

Where you rest your head after an active day is hugely important to us. We go to great lengths to find properties that are unique expressions of the region you are travelling through. Think of them as the charming and intimate garnish atop your trip.

Whether nestled in the heart of a village or lost in the countryside and surrounded by nature, all accommodations are chosen using a strict criteria of comforthospitality, and authentic charm. We like to use locally run independent small hotels, guest houses and B&Bs instead of the larger “chain” hotels.  All of them are hand-picked, visited, and re-visited by our local partners. On most of our holidays you will be staying in different hotels and their  uniqueness and individual character only adds to the enjoyment of your holiday. You will also benifit with knowledge that your trip is contributing to local economies, and supporting local family run businesses.

You will be welcomed in a double or twin room (2 beds) – based on double occupancy.
All of our rooms have private bathrooms.
Individual rooms are possible upon request when you book; they are subject to availability and incur a supplemental fee.
For biking trips, all of our inns have a safe place to keep bicycles for the night
